Bree Darcy won $5 million in the lottery straight out of university and has since travelled the world, chasing the sun. Fitter than Elle, richer than Oprah and sassier than Madonna, she is often spied hanging out with her A-lister mates at celebrity bashes. She is currently swimming with dolphins (and Zac Efron) in Hawaii.
In reality, Bree Darcy is the pseudonym of an Australian journalist. She is the publisher of several popular websites for readers and authors, including Chicklit Club, Connect and We Heart Writing, and also runs the annual International Chick Lit Month event. She worked as a newspaper sub-editor in Perth for about twenty years, and is married with three children. Don’t Mention the Rock Star is her debut novel.
Don’t Mention the Rock Star reads like a classic rock ballad full of love, lies and regret. If you are bored of New York and tired of LA then head to Oz, where love is just as complicated.
Don’t Mention The Rock Star is my favorite sort of love story, where two people who are meant to be together lose each other somewhere along the way. Bree Darcy’s writing is funny, entertaining, and surprising.
I love reading and writing books about everyday women facing up to life’s challenges. Chick lit has been a passion of mine for the past decade and the subject of these three fantastic websites for readers and authors.
Chicklit Club is the world authority on chick lit. Run by a team of contributors from around the world, the website covers more than 2500 rated titles, 1000 authors and 200 interviews. With book reviews, news and interviews, it’s the one-stop site for readers needing their fix of chick lit.
Brought to you by the team behind Chicklit Club, We Heart Writing is a resource for writers and bloggers, with tips on writing, how to get published and promoting your brand. It is divided into four sections: writing, publishing, marketing and blogging and is edited by Jade Craddock.
Connect is where the community supporting women’s fiction can share their views. Cooordinated by Australian blogger Melissa Puli, it is affiliated with the Chicklit Club website and is where readers will find author blog tours and guest posts from an array of international writers.
